TWO men are in hospital after a man sustained serious injuries after a late-night stabbing in Bournemouth

Police cordoned off Hawthorn Road, off Wimborne Road in Winton, this morning on Tuesday, February 7 after a man aged in his 50s was stabbed. 

He was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries, not believed to be life-threatening, and a man aged in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm. 

The arrested man has also been taken to hospital as a precaution. Enquiries are ongoing.

Police were called to the road at 12.01am on Tuesday and spent much of the day outside a cordon. A CID (criminal investigation department) will be on-scene today. 

One man in the road told the Echo: “You think you can live in a decent area, crime can happen anywhere.”

Another woman added: “What is the world coming to?” 

A Dorset Police spokesman said: “We received a report at 12.01am on Tuesday 7 February 2023 that a man had sustained a suspected stab wound in Hawthorn Road in Bournemouth.

“Officers attended and a man aged in his 50s was taken to hospital for treatment to an injury that was believed to be serious but not life threatening. 

“A man aged in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm and taken to hospital as a precaution. 

“Enquiries are ongoing and a police cordon remains in place at the scene.” 

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 00.09hrs to an incident in Bournemouth. We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, and conveyed two patients to hospitals in Poole and Bournemouth.”
