A MAN is in hospital in a "serious" condition after emergency services were called to an incident at a supermarket car park in Bournemouth.
Police and the ambulance service were called to the Asda supermarket car park in St Pauls Road shortly before 6.30pm on Thursday, February 2.
Police were called to the scene by the ambulance service to reports of a man in his 40s in need of medical attention.
He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
A 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of supplying a class B drug and administering a noxious substance.
Witnesses reported seeing multiple police cars and a police cordon in place.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “Dorset Police received a report at 6.27pm on Thursday 2 February 2023 from the ambulance service requesting assistance as it treated a man in need of medical attention at the car park of the Asda supermarket in St Pauls Road in Bournemouth.
“The man, aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious condition. His next of kin have been informed."
The spokesperson added: “Enquiries into the matter are ongoing.”
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 18.17hrs on Thursday 2 February to an incident in Bournemouth.
“We sent a double-crewed land ambulance, two operations officers and a critical care car. We conveyed one patient to Royal Bournemouth Hospital.”
