POLICE detained a man in Bournemouth after around three hours of reported negotiations following an alleged assault.
It is alleged that a man had assaulted a member of the public in Lowther Road, in Bournemouth, on Thursday, February 2.
Officers attempted to gain access to a property where the suspect was but they were refused.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said efforts were made to engage with the man until eventually he was detained after around three hours.
The man was taken to hospital as a precaution.
A witness said they saw four police cars, an ambulance and negotiators on the scene.
A Dorset Police spokesman said: “We received a report at 10.44am on Thursday 2 February 2023 raising concern for the welfare of a man in Lowther Road in Bournemouth. It was also reported that the man had assaulted a member of the public.
“It was reported that the man was refusing officers access to the property. Efforts were made to engage with the man. He was detained at around 2.20pm and was taken to hospital as a precaution.”
