DISRUPTION to rail services in Dorset is expected at the start of February amid strike action.

CrossCountry passengers are being urged to make alternative travel arrangements due to planned industrial action by The Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen and drivers represented by the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT).

As a result, CrossCountry will not run any services on February 1 and 3 with passengers being urged to make alternative travel arrangements. The company will run a normal service on the days around the planned industrial action.

The train company operates from stations including Bournemouth, Brockenhurst and both Southampton sites.

Tom Joyner, managing director at CrossCountry said: “We are saddened that industrial action continues to cause disruption on our network and would like to express our apologies to our passengers who will be affected. We are committed to finding a resolution so that we can ensure the railway is sustainable, now and in the future, and hope we can reach an agreement soon.

“We urge passengers to make alternative travel arrangements on strike days, and to check our website for the most up to date information around disruption, and plan ahead.”
