AN ELDERLY woman has died from injuries sustained after a serious crash in Boscombe on New Year’s Day.

The incident, which involved a red Ford Focus and a black Honda Civic, happened in Christchurch Road at the junction with Crabton Close Road at 3.49pm on Sunday, January 1, 2023.

A Christchurch woman in her 80s was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries following the incident. She subsequently died in hospital on Thursday, January 12.

Her family has been informed and the coroner has been notified.

A 36-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and released under investigation.

Sergeant Richard Stroud, of the traffic unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the woman who sadly died at this extremely difficult time.

“We owe it to them to establish the full circumstances of this incident, and I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to please come forward if you have not already spoken to police.”
