A BOURNEMOUTH woman is preparing to transform her home into a food bank on Christmas eve.

Sharon Valler will be offering out crates of surplus food from outside her property in Broadway Lane to help those most in need this Christmas.

Sharon is expecting deliveries from up to seven supermarkets on Saturday evening, containing anything from whole turkeys to fruit and vegetables, all of which would otherwise be thrown away.

She told the Daily Echo: “We’re just responding to the opportunity to save the food from waste.”

It will be the third Christmas in a row that Sharon has ran a food bank from her home, but with many struggling amid the cost-of-living crisis, she feels it is more important than ever.

The 48-year-old also runs informal food banks three times a week, all year round, as part of her Bournemouth Recycle Facebook group.
