AN online clothing brand is set to open its first ever store in the new year, joining a diverse line-up of retailers at Poole’s Dolphin Centre.

Dorset-based clothing brand Brakeburn will begin trading at the KINGLAND unit early next year where select items will be available from its women and men’s clothing ranges.

Brakeburn has previously only been stocked online and in local boutique stores, meaning the KINGLAND unit is the first brick-and-mortar store for the lifestyle and fashion brand.

Inspired by outdoor living with coastal themes, products include everyday fashion, accessories and practical items such as changing robes.

Nick Jackson, founder and managing director of Brakeburn, said: “Our local team is inspired everyday by their coastal passions, be it paddleboarding on the harbour, or a bike ride over the Purbeck hills. Brakeburn is a laid back, coastal brand that echoes the Dorset lifestyle, making Poole the perfect place for our first store.

“We’re thrilled to be kicking off the new year with a brand-new venture for us on our home turf. Launching our own store has been on the agenda for a while and committing to a unit in KINGLAND has been based on it being the right place, at the right time for us as a business.

“Poole is a beautiful place to live and we’re looking forward to being a part of the regeneration of the town centre.”

KINGLAND, which is owned by Legal & General Investment Management Real Assets, opened in April last year as part of the Dolphin Centre’s reimagining. The scheme supported independent businesses with two years free rent and business rates as part of L&GIM’s aim to evolve Poole’s current retail offering.

John Grinnell, centre manager at the Dolphin Centre, added: “KINGLAND has been such a huge success since it launched nearly two years ago and we’re really pleased to not only see how much it’s benefitted the centre and Poole as a whole, but also the budding entrepreneurs dipping their toe into the world of retail.

“The high-street is thriving again, and the decision for Brakeburn to take the leap and open its first store here in Poole is a testament to the hard work of all the businesses in the town centre striving to ensure our high-street continues to be a buzzing and vibrant place to shop.”

Further information on Brakeburn’s store opening date will be announced in the new year.
