TWO people had to be taken to hospital following a crash on a busy road in rural Dorset.

Emergency services attended the B3081 Bleke Street, in Shaftesbury, shortly after 12pm on Friday, December 16 after reports of a crash.

Two vehicles were involved in the collision at Haimes Lane with the road blocked for several hours.

Two crews from the ambulance service were dispatched to the incident at 12.18pm with the police called six minutes later.

Both vehicles required recovery with two people transported to Salisbury District Hospital as a result of the crash.

The road reopened just after 3pm.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 12.18pm to a road traffic collision in Shaftesbury. We sent two double-crewed land ambulances and conveyed two patients to Salisbury District Hospital.”
