OBSCENE graffiti sprayed on the home of an elderly Poole couple has disgusted residents who have urged police to take action.

Vandals have sprayed explicit wording and imagery three times within a one-month period on the home of a husband and wife in Sterte, Poole, who have no idea why they are being targeted.

What started with one obscenity being painted on the couple’s door in late November has turned into a series of early hours vandalism attacks, culminating with the latest incident discovered early on Wednesday morning.

The male resident of the property, who did not wish to be named, told the Echo his landlord has twice had the graffiti painted over.

He said: “We’ve been here for 30 years, we haven’t fallen out with anyone and we’ve always been okay with our neighbours so I don’t understand it.

“This time when I saw it I didn’t even bother reading the wording as I knew it would be horrible. It’s getting to the point now where we’re in bed at night thinking is there going to be more when we wake up.

“Personally, I think it’s a silly juvenile who thinks they’re very funny. It’s a deranged person and it’s somebody very local.”

The resident added that, following discussions with police, more CCTV cameras are likely to be installed in the area.

Neighbouring resident John Wilson also contacted police about the graffiti and said the vandals had gone “one step too far”.

He said: “I’ve lived here for about six years and have never seen anything like this. It is absolutely disgusting.

“We’re two weeks away from Christmas and elderly people are getting traumatised by kids. It’s not just them being childish, it’s targeted.

“A lot of bad things are happening around here and nothing gets done. But this was one step too far and it really upset me. Something needs to change.”

Of the 12 words sprayed on the property, eight are explicit with an overtly sexual tone.

Poole Town ward councillor Andy Hadley said: “I condemn the targeting of people’s homes with scrawled obscene messages, and hope the perpetrator is identified and brought to justice.”

A Dorset Police spokesperson confirmed they had received reports about incidents at the house on December 10 and 14. They said: “Officers attended and spoke to the victims. House-to-house and CCTV enquiries were conducted in the vicinity.

“The local neighbourhood policing team has been made aware and will be carrying out patrols in the area to help identify those responsible.

“Enquiries are ongoing into the incidents.”

In a social media post, Poole Police asked anyone with information to come forward.

They added: “The context of the text is so abhorrent, it cannot be posted to read.

“The couple targeted are retired and have lived at this location for a considerable time, with no previous issue. They have no idea why they would be targeted in this way. Poole NPT are conducting a wide range of enquiries to try and identify those responsible.
