A water hydrant exploded in Southbourne sending up a huge plume of water on Friday morning.
Freezing temperatures mean the water hydrant is not closing, leading to the spectacular sight in Pine Avenue, Fisherman's Walk.
The road is currently inaccessible and engineers are on the scene.
Some people will face an interruption to their supply while the problem is fixed.
A Bournemouth Water spokesperson said: “We received reports of a suspected water burst in Pine Avenue, just before 7am this morning (9 December). We sent technicians to the area to investigate the cause and by 9.30am had discovered an issue with a water hydrant which is not closing due to the cold weather.

“There is currently no impact to customer supplies, however, we will be required to interrupt supply to 47 properties while we resolve this issue, and are contacting them to inform them.
“We aim to complete the repair and restore all supplies by 2pm and would like to thank customers for their patience”
