TWO boys were taken to hospital with head injuries after being assaulted by a group of masked youths.

The altercation took place at Barrack Road Recreation Ground and a police investigation is ongoing.

The incident occurred at around 4.20pm on Sunday, November 20, in the park off Sopers Lane, opposite the Bank Close car park.

Two boys – aged 15 and 16 – were with some friends when they were approached by a group of young people aged between 12 and 16 years old wearing masks.

The group asked what school the victims were in, before an altercation arose and both boys were assaulted, causing minor head injuries to both victims. Both boys attended hospital for treatment.
