TAKEWAY delivery giant Deliveroo has revealed the number of small restaurants in Bournemouth registered with the service has soared.

New figures from Deliveroo show that nearly four in five Bournemouth businesses on the platform are now small restaurants, an increase in almost 45 per cent over the past year.

This comes amid growing demand in Bournemouth, with customer orders to small local businesses up by nearly eight per cent on November last year.

Orders from locally owned restaurants, which excludes national chains, now make up a third of Deliveroo’s total orders in Bournemouth (33 per cent).

Some of the most popular small local restaurants on the platform in Bournemouth are currently Kumpi and the Croft Deli & Grill.

Jeff Wemyss, Deliveroo vice president of regional growth said: “Small businesses are the backbone of our highstreets right across the UK, and we’re proud to be championing our restaurant partners.

“Whether it's ordering from your family's favourite local Italian to tucking into a Pad Thai whilst watching the World Cup knockout stages, we want our customers in Bournemouth to choose local this weekend and support their community restaurants.”
