A MAN from Christchurch has been given a driving ban after being caught at almost three times the drink drive limit at the Channel Tunnel in Kent.
Gheorghe Dinicila, aged 41, was alleged to have driven a black Audi A8 at the Channel Tunnel outbound border controls in Folkestone on October 7 with 100 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
The legal limit is 35 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
Dinicila, whose address was given as Chewton Common Road, Highcliffe, appeared in the dock at Poole Magistrates’ Court on November 28 having pleaded guilty to a charge of drink driving at a previous hearing.
The defendant was fined £769 and ordered to pay a £308 surcharge and £85 costs.
He was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 40 months.
