A NUMBER of lights at Bournemouth Christmas Tree Wonderland stopped working on Saturday due to the rain.

The rain caused a technical issue with the lights and electricians were called in to fix the displays which returned on Sunday.

A BCP Council spokesperson said: “Christmas Tree Wonderland is a huge draw for the town with around one million beautiful LED lights lighting up Bournemouth for six weeks.

“Occasionally we have issues around lighting that is beyond our control. On Saturday night a small number of trees were not lit up due to the heavy rain that came in the afternoon.

“Our electricians were on site working hard to fix the issue, and on Sunday the tree lights were working again for everyone to enjoy.

“We check the lights every day and will deal with any further issues should they arise, on a case by case basis.”

On Saturday, organisers of the event posted to warn people that some of the trees were not lit up.

In a post on Facebook, a spokesperson said: "If you're visiting Christmas Tree Wonderland tonight, you may have seen that a few of our trees aren't lit up.

"Our elves are working really hard to fix them, and they've already said that while snow is welcome over the festive period, rain is most definitely not.

"We hope you enjoy all the other illuminations on the trail as well as the Bournemouth Christmas Market, Ice SKATE & Moguls Alpine Bar Bournemouth and everything else that Bournemouth has to offer tonight."
