Healing Haven was opened in July this year by 27-year-old Lillie Hussain. The Poole resident had gone to her first ever yoga class ten years ago, and during a really difficult time of her life, but the ‘unwelcoming’ feel of the class left her disheartened.

Lillie said: “My journey actually started about ten years ago when I went to a yoga studio which I felt was really unwelcoming. It had mirrors everywhere, and it didn’t feel that you could really build on your practice.”

“That’s the reason we don’t have any mirrors, why we focus on being inclusive and welcoming to all abilities, shapes and sizes. It’s all because of what I’ve seen in the industry myself.

"It’s fantastic to create a space that feels inclusive and welcoming to all levels of yoga, from those with curiosity to those practicing regularly. The feedback we have received so far has been overwhelmingly beautiful"

Lillie hopes that the inclusivity of Healing Haven will encourage more people to engage in yoga and experience its benefits on their physical and mental wellbeing.

“Yoga was something that eventually, really helped me.

“If people come along, and take that first little step, they may see how beneficial it is to their mental wellbeing.

“Our intention for Healing Haven is for it to be a space that feels like a community space, and where people can find their little weekly escape amid the chaos the outside world.

“You will always feel a sense of safety, deep healing and focus when you practice here.”

Lillie has also revealed her plans to open a new garden studio in the spring of next year.
