HAVING just been urgently referred to Poole Hospital it was a surprise and delight not to encounter any traffic congestion.

It is with great pleasure that I can confirm that team effort is alive and well in our hospital.

In fact it is better than that, it is excellent and at times superlative.

How this is achieved in the face of sustained under-funding resulting in ambulance queues and backlog maintenance of equipment and buildings is a marvel in itself?

This is to publicly record my support for the NHS, since what was needed was provided despite everything that so many of us know has been put in the way by the short-term thinking of current politicians – politicians that still do not understand that lively and enthusiastic communities are productive communities.

As voters, it is now obvious that we still have our heroes who overcome problems created by matters beyond their power to avoid.

Guess it will soon be our duty to support the above team efforts of the NHS by reducing (if not removing) the problems that do (and will, under current dubious plans that increase patient travel times) afflict prompt access to relevant emergency hospital treatments.

Our communities can afford no less and our heroic ‘key workers’ must be respected.

Hopefully this letter will be printed as a mark of respect for the ‘key workers’ I met recently.
