A man was rescued from a house fire in Poole on Wednesday afternoon.

Dorset Police say they were called to Langdon Road, near Ashley Road, at 3.30pm on Wednesday, November 23 to assist the fire service.

A spokeswoman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said 'extensive smoke damage' had been sustained on the ground floor of a detatched house in Langdon Road.

Six breathing apparatus wearers used hose reels and main jets to extinguish the fire, which has now been put out.

Station manager at Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, Alan Frias-Robles said: “The occupant made Lifeline aware that there was a small fire he couldn’t deal with. Through them, we were called.

“A gentleman was rescued, he’s been taken to hospital and we’re currently unaware of his condition. At this point a fire investigation is being carried out, we’re not 100 per cent sure of the cause. 

“Two crews from Poole and one from Westbourne attended to deal with the occupant and extinguish the fire.

“There’s quite large smoke damage throughout the property, we managed to extinguish the fire quite quickly.

"I believe the fire was isolated to one room, potentially two but there was quite thick smoke damage throughout.”

 

A Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "We received a call at 3.13pm this afternoon about a property fire on Langdon Road, Poole.

"Two crews from Poole and one from Westbourne attended the incident which involved a fire on the ground floor of a detached house.

"Six breathing apparatus wearers used hose reel and main jets to extinguish the fire – the property has suffered extensive smoke damage.

"Our stop came at 4.14pm."

 

 

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 15.27hrs on Wednesday 23 November to an incident in Parkstone.

"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances and an operations officer. We conveyed one patient to Poole Hospital.”
