A YOUNG man has been put behind bars after he was caught with drugs and a hunting style knife at a railway station.

Cameron Horler was detained by officers at Bournemouth Railway Station on November 17.

Horler, 18 and of Terrace Road, Bournemouth, appeared in the dock at Poole Magistrates’ Court the following day.

The defendant pleaded guilty to possession of a blade article in a public place and possession of five grams of cannabis and cannabis resin.

Bournemouth Echo:

Horler was committed to detention in a young offender institution for six months, with the court noting the offence was serious because of the teenager’s previous offending for numerous knife offences.

It was ordered that the knife and drugs be forfeited and destroyed.

A British Transport Police Dorset spokesperson said the prosecution followed a joint operation with Dorset Police and Hampshire Constabulary, with Horler reportedly initially running off from officers before being caught.
