A 'HUGE' oak tree has fallen on a cottage in Wimborne St Giles.

A resident said the fire service were called to the scene.

There were no reported injuries as the home owners were not at the property at the time.

A dog was rescued by a neighbour, who said the house may be damaged but it is too early to tell.

A spokespeson from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to Wimborne St Giles at 11.49am for a report of a tree against a house, and one crew from Cranborne is in attendance.

"No-one has been injured, we’re working to make the scene safe."
