“Can you arrange for me to have a double date with Harry and Sandra Redknapp?”

This was just one of the bonkers requests made to staff at a Travelodge in Bournemouth.

It comes as the hotel chain reveals the most unusual requests it has received from guests over the past 12 months- with some of the most bizzare ones coming from Travelodge hotels in Bournemouth.

The double date with the Redknapps was requested by a guest at the Bournemouth Seafront Travelodge, where staff were also asked to bring beds from the room down to the seafront, and arrange a “seagull-free quiet room”.

One guest at the Bournemouth Travelodge even asked: “Can you arrange for the tide to come in at midday when we have fish and chips on the beach?”

The requests were just as bizarre elsewhere in the conurbation.

At the Travelodge hotel in Poole, one guest asked: “Can you ensure the sea is not choppy tomorrow because we are going on a Poole sea safari?”, and a diner at the hotel’s café asked: “I’m going bass fishing later; can you cook my catch for dinner?”

But whilst the Travelodge staff are said to love a “good challenge” when it comes to requests, sadly there are some that are out of their control.

Shakila Ahmed, a spokeswoman for Travelodge, said: “We have experienced a significant increase in bookings across our 581 UK Travelodge hotels this year including our four hotels in Bournemouth, with Britons taking more short breaks and turning a concert or sporting event into a Minication.

"Also with more Britons holidaying on British shores than ever before our hotel teams have also received a high volume of interesting requests and questions especially around attractions, locations, local dishes, customs and traditions across our diverse British regions.

"Where possible, our hotel teams will go above and beyond to help customers as they relish a good challenge. However, there are some requests beyond their control such as arranging for a guest to have a double date with Harry & Sandra Redknapp.”
