AN ENVIRONMENTAL rally will take place in Bournemouth this weekend as people take to the streets to call for action.

The Climate Justice Coalition, who are calling for a national day of action, are calling for people to join them at Bournemouth Pier at 12pm on Saturday, November 12.

The rally will proceed through the Lower Gardens towards The Square where there will be speeches, demonstrations, music and art calling for action on global warming.

It is expected thousands across the world will be taking to the streets to demand for ‘Climate Justice’ on the penultimate weekend of the COP27 negotiations.

Organiser Ruby Free, a campaigner and wildlife conservationist, said: “This year we’ve seen the most extreme weather events ever recorded, new reports tell us how over 15 per cent of UK species are at risk of extinction and we are living through an unprecedented time of social deprivation and inequality.

This isn’t just being felt in the global south, but also closer to home. Dorset’s people and wildlife are at risk.

“Dorset’s coastal towns and cities are some of the ‘most at risk’ locations for flooding in the UK when sea levels are predicted to rise.”
