DORSET and the New Forest will pause to remember the fallen later this week.
Commemorative events will be held across our towns on Friday, November 11 and Sunday, November 13.
A two-minute silence will be held to remember those who lost their lives during the First World War at 11am on Friday.
Many services on the following Sunday will then hold the two-minute silence again at cenotaphs, parades and public events.

Here’s a round-up of the events and services that will be held across the area.
Bournemouth
Sunday, November 13
Bournemouth’s annual service of remembrance and parade will take place at the War Memorial in the Central Gardens in Bournemouth town centre.
The service starts at 10.55am and will be led by Reverend Dr Ian Terry, with music provided by the Salvation Army Boscombe Band and the Bournemouth Combined Cadet Force Band.
The parade will be led by The Salvation Army Band who will play the bugle alongside the Field Gun Display Team to mark the start and end of the two-minute silence.
Braidley Road, Bourne Avenue and Avenue Road will be closed to vehicles from 9am until 1pm.
Poole
Friday, November 11
The Mayor of Poole will be observing the two minute silence with a short service of remembrance outside Beales in the Dolphin Shopping Centre.
The service will start at 10.55am and a bugler from Poole Sea Cadets will be in attendance.
Sunday, November 13
The annual service of remembrance and parade will take place at the War Memorial in Poole Park.
The Poole Sea Cadets Marching Band will lead the parade and play the bugle to mark the start and end of the two-minute silence.
The service will start at 10.50am and be led by Reverend Reg Baldock, with music provided by the Poole Borough Band.
Poole Park will be closed to vehicles from 7.30am to 1pm.
Christchurch
Sunday, November 13
The traditional remembrance services will begin with a short service at Purewell Cross War Memorial at 9.15am.
This will be followed by a procession, led the Royal British Legion, Armed Forces Units, town council and civic organisations, from the Royal British Legion at 10am, down the High Street to the Priory Church.
A wreath laying ceremony will then take place at the Garden of Remembrance at the Priory Church at 10.15am, ahead of the main remembrance service at 10.50am which will include a two-minute silence.
Following the service the procession will return along the High Street, past the old town hall, where the High Sheriff of Dorset and Mayor of Christchurch will receive the salute.
Swanage
Sunday, November 13
A parade and service will start at 2pm when the parade leaves the Mowlem.
This will be followed by a service at 2.30pm in St Mary's Church.
After the service, the parade will reform and then march to the town's War Memorial where wreaths will be laid.
At the end of the service, people are invited to the Royal British Legion for tea.
Ringwood
Friday, November 11
There will be a service at the War Memorial at 10.45am and at 11am the two minute silence will be observed.
In accordance with local tradition, the start and end of the silence will be marked by the firing of a maroon which will generate a loud bang to be heard around the town.
Sunday, November 13
There will be various services around the town after which a parade will gather in the Market Place from 11.30am.
Lymington
A two minute silence will be held at the War Memorial on High Street at 11am on Friday, November 11. On Sunday, a remembrance parade will leave the town hall followed by church service and wreath laying by the town mayor at St Thomas Church.
Blandford
Sunday, November 13
Residents are invited to meet in the Market Place from 2.45pm to take part in the town's Remembrance Sunday outdoor service and parade which starts at 3pm.
It will run until 3.45pm followed by a church service starting at approximately 4pm.
A wreath laying will be held at the war memorials in front of the Corn Exchange with music from The Blandford Stour Valley Band.
A road closure will be in place from 2.30pm and the Market Place will be reopened as soon as the public leaves the area.
The Market Place car parking area will not be available on Sunday, November 13.
Wimborne
Sunday, November 13
The Remembrance Sunday Service will be held at Wimborne Minster at 3pm.
The service will be conducted by The Rector of Wimborne Minster, The Reverend Canon Andrew J W Rowland, The Reverend Nick Wells and assisted by other clergy of the town.
The address will be given by The Reverend William French, Chaplain of Wimborne Royal British Legion.
Before the service there will be a parade, starting from the Royal British Legion on West Borough and eventually ending at The Minster for 3pm when the remembrance service will begin.
After the remembrance service, individuals and organisations will gather at the War Memorial on Minster Green and will be invited to lay wreaths remembering all the fallen of past and current wars.
This will be followed by a two-minute silence. All are welcome to attend and be seated for 2.45pm.
Verwood
Friday, November 11
At 10.50am, Verwood will be gathering to pay our respects to the fallen at the war graves at St Michael’s Church. All are welcome to attend.
Sunday, November 13
A memorial service takes place at 10.50am at the War Memorial in Ringwood Road. All are welcome to attend.
Road closures will be in place between 10.30am and 11.30am in Dewlands Way, Home Farm Road between Dewlands Way and St Michael's Roundabout, St Michael's Roundabout and Manor Road between St Michael's Roundabout junction and Ringwood Road and in Ringwood Road between Manor Road and Vicarage Road.
