A SCOUT group has created a huge poppy display in tribute to veterans and serving personnel.

More than 200 Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers from Broadstone Scout Group, along with their leaders, have been busy recycling plastic bottles into poppies for the display.

The display can be found outside Broadstone Methodist Church in Lower Blandford Road, Broadstone.

It will be on show until Saturday, November 19, and the Scouts hope it will encourage donations to The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

The scout group said it had made the tribute to the Royal British Legion for the work it does supporting veterans and currently serving personnel who have given so much for their country.

Gill McDonald, group Scout leader, said: “This community project embraces the ethos of Scouting in preparing young people with skills for life, as we encourage them to make a positive contribution to their community.”

Beavers, Cubs and Scouts will be collecting for the Poppy Appeal outside Broadstone Methodist Church on Saturday, November 12, from 10am until 5pm.

Anyone inspired to support scouting in the community is encouraged to contact their local Scout group.
