POLICE are investigating a ‘hit-and-run’ crash which left a moped rider in hospital.
Emergency services were called to The Avenue in Poole, on Tuesday morning following reports of a collision near the junction with Tower Road.
The crash involved a silver car and a red Honda moped and took place at around 9.40am.
It was reported to police that the car failed to stop at the scene.
The moped rider – a woman aged in her 50s – was treated by the ambulance service for minor injuries.
The driver of the car is described as a black man, aged in his 40s to 50s and of average height and build with a bald head.
Yesterday, police said the incident involved a van but it has since been confirmed it was a car.
Officers investigating the collision are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
Police Constable Abigail Sharp, of Dorset Police, said: “We are carrying out a number of enquiries to identify the driver of the car involved in this collision and I would urge anyone with information to assist our investigation to please contact us.
“I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have captured it on dashcam footage.
“I would also urge the driver involved to do the right thing and come forward so we can take your account.”
