A MAN was left with “nasty injuries” after being struck in the head with what was believed to be a gas cannister in Bournemouth town centre.
At around 11.30pm on Saturday, October 8, the victim – a man aged in his 40s – was walking in Commercial Road when he became involved in an altercation with a group of men.
The victim went to walk away but was chased by one of the men and struck from behind with what was believed to be a gas cannister.
He sustained a laceration to the top of his head as well as further cuts and bruising from when he fell to the floor as a result of the assault.
Officers investigating the assault have issued CCTV images of a man they would like to identify in connection.
Police Constable Cameron Carter, of Bournemouth CID, said: “This assault left the victim with nasty injuries, and we have been carrying out a number of enquiries into this incident.
“From our investigation, we have obtained CCTV images of a man we are keen to identify and I would urge anyone who recognises him to please come forward.”
