A MAN has been put behind bars after being caught being the wheel of a car just five days after he avoided being sent to prison for motoring offences.

Matthew Stephen Gale, 31, received a suspended sentence at a Poole Magistrates’ Court hearing on October 28 for an offence of driving while disqualified.

Gale, whose address was given as Marie Close, Poole, was back in the dock on November 3 after committing crimes the previous day.

He admitted charges of driving while disqualified and using a motor vehicle without insurance.

The defendant also pleaded guilty to breach of the suspended sentence made on October 28 and an earlier suspended sentence issued on June 8 for offences of theft and criminal damage.

Magistrates committed Gale to prison for a total of 46 weeks, with an order to pay a £154 surcharge and £85 costs.

He was also disqualified from driving for 31 months and nine days, which included an extension period of five months and nine days to cover the period he will spend behind bars.
