THE Barfleur ferry has completed its last crossing of the Channel from Poole before the service takes a pause over winter.
The Brittany Ferries route between Poole and Cherbourg ran for the final time on Friday, November 4, with the 8.30am departure from the Dorset port.
Barfleur made a welcome return to service back in March after almost two years away due to the pandemic.
The popular ferry was first planned by Brittany Ferries back in the 1980s, with Barfleur and its sister ship the 27,000-ton Normandie making up a £190million investment to compete with the Channel Tunnel.
It made its first crossing for a gala welcome in Poole in April 1992 – meaning this year marked its 30th anniversary.
A Brittany Ferries spokesperson confirmed the ferry will resume operations on the route on Friday, March 31, 2023.
