A DOCUMENT that will 'shape the future of Christchurch' is being shared with residents and business owners.

Christchurch Town Council are hosting two public events to share the progress of their draft neighbourhood plan.

Members of the public will be able to see the policy document at an exhibition in the town centre on Saturday and Monday, and have a chance to provide feedback on the draft.

The neighbourhood plan, once complete, will set out guidelines that developers and BCP Council must consider when making applications and planning decisions.

Residents were first consulted on the neighbourhood plan in early 2021, with Christchurch Town Council keen to find out what was most important to residents, businesses, and visitors.

The council then began to prepare the draft document, which more than a year and a half later, is ready for viewing.

Cllr Dr Robert Luscombe, the chairman of the Christchurch Town Council neighbourhood plan working group, said: "Following the previous residents consultation that took place 18 months ago, a lot of work has been undertaken towards developing our draft Neighbourhood Plan.

"We would now like to consult again with residents to both share the work to date to and seek their views and opinions. The Christchurch Town Council Neighbourhood Plan will help us shape the future of Christchurch and input from residents is a key element of this work”.

The draft neighbourhood plan is being shown at the Old Town Hall in the high street between 10am to 4pm on Saturday, November 5, and 10am to 2pm on Monday, November 7.

Those unable to visit the Old Town Hall exhibition can complete an online survey. They can be accessed here.
