TAKE a glimpse inside the newly opened DYMK bar which is striving to revitalise the LGBTQ scene in Bournemouth.

DYMK bar opened on Thursday, November 3 offering a more "chilled-out alternative" to DYMK club.

The new bar will be open 5-12pm seven days a week and will be selling a wide range cocktails, wines and gins.

The "inclusive" bar will also be hosting live events, including an upcoming show by RuPaul's Drag Race UK contestant, Copper Topp on Friday, November 25.

Andrew Roberts, 54, from Bournemouth manages DYMK bar and club, he is hoping the new bar will help to rebuild the "deteriorating" Bournemouth gay scene.

Andrew said: "We opened a second site to allow people an earlier and more chilled-out alternative to DYMK club.

"It's more relaxed so people can meet up, chat and have a casual drink to perhaps start their evening off here then head up to our club if they want something a little more lively later on.

"Our preview night went amazing, the feedback was great. Everyone loved that we had tied the two venues together and made a big effort for the Bournemouth LGBTQ community.

"The gay scene in Bournemouth is deteriorating over the last five years so we want to try and get it back up to where it was."

Bournemouth Echo:

Andrew has made the drinks in his bar "price-friendly" with a happy hour between 5pm and 9pm.

He added: "Anyone is welcome here, we are very inclusive and we hope everyone comes down and enjoys our new bar.

"We have made it price friendly and will be doing happy hour between 5-9pm to make it affordable for everyone struggling with costs at the moment.

"It's a pre-venue to the club, if you come here early at the weekend you get cheaper entry tickets to the club."
