A 12-YEAR-OLD boy was injured by a firework in Canford Heath on Halloween evening. 

Dorset Police were alerted by the ambulance service to the incident in Sherborn Crescent, in Poole, at 7.36pm on Monday, October 31. 

Officers attended the scene and located the injured boy – who had sustained an injury to his wrist. 

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence after it was alleged a group of children were acting anti-socially whilst officers were on scene. 

The 17-year-old was subsequently de-arrested and issued with a section 35 dispersal order to prevent him from returning to the area during the evening.

A section 35 order forms part of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 and gives Police Constables or Police Community Support Officers in uniform the power to exclude a person from an area for a period of up to 48 hours with an Inspector's authority.

A Dorset Police spokeswoman said: “Dorset Police received a report from the ambulance service at 7.36pm on Monday 31 October 2022 that a 12-year-old boy had been injured by a firework in Sherborn Crescent in Poole. 

“Officers attended and located the injured boy. He sustained an injury to his wrist. 

“While officers were at the scene, it is reported that a group of children were acting anti-socially.  

“A 17-year-old boy from Poole was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence. He was subsequently de-arrested and issued with a section 35 dispersal order to prevent him from returning to the area during the evening.”
