A GROUP spotted with 'firearms' in a car park at a Poole beauty spot proved to be three men filming a music video with plastic guns.

Dorset Police swiftly dispatched officers following a call about the sighting in the Lake Pier car park in Hamworthy on Monday afternoon.

Three men had been seen to get out of a car in possession of firearms.

After armed police rushed to the car park, a search of the area was carried out, with a vehicle tracked down and stopped in Ringwood Road in the area of Kinson Pottery Industrial Estate.

Residents reported seeing firearms officers in the area of Jewsons.

Police spoke with the occupants of the car, who said they had been filming a music video with plastic guns.

Officers viewed video footage which verified what they had been told, with three plastic guns found in the vehicle.

Bournemouth Echo:

A Dorset Police spokeswoman told the Daily Echo: “We were called at 4.42pm on Monday, October 31, to reports that three men had got out of a car at Lake Pier car park in Hamworthy, Poole, and that the three men were all in possession of firearms.

“Specialist firearms officers attended the scene and carried out fast-track enquiries and a search of the area. The vehicle was located and stopped in Ringwood Road in Poole.

“On speaking to the occupants of the vehicle it was established that the men were innocently making a music video with plastic guns and did not believe that any members of the public were in the car park at the time. Video footage was viewed by officers to verify the details and three guns were located in the vehicle and were confirmed to be plastic.

“The report to Dorset Police was made with good intent and the incident was quickly resolved by officers at the scene with words of advice given to the individuals involved.”
