Sian Son-Morri has decorated her home in Linmead Drive in time for the arrival of trick or treaters on Monday evening.

Both the front of the property and the garden, have been decorated with cobwebs, skeletons, ghosts, and pumpkins for the ultimate scare experience.

Sian and her mother will also be in fancy dress to welcome in trick or treaters, and hand out the all-important sweets, before they embark on a themed trail through the garden.

Sian said: “They can go around the garden. All the stuff pretty much moves or does something and there’s bits that they can press, and it will light up.”

It will be the 8th time that Sian has transformed her home for Halloween, but the previous years have been held at her old address in Springbourne.

Sian said: “I love Halloween, I’ve always loved Halloween. I actually volunteer for a ghost hunting company. I’m into everything like this.

“It actually started when my husband brought a massive cardboard box home that he would turn into a coffin, and when the trick or treaters would come, he would jump out on them.

"So that’s how it started, and then it’s just got bigger and bigger, and it gets bigger each year. Each year we add more stuff to it."

Sian also uses the decorations to fundraise for a chosen charity, and this year, she will be raising money for Dorset Mind.

She said: “We’ve been doing it for charity for the past four years. Last year I raised money for Children with Cancer UK and the previous two years was for Dorset Mind.

“This year I’ve gone back to Dorset Mind just because of the Covid situation- mental health has been a massive thing.”

Sian also added that a friend, who she used to trick or treat with as a child, had taken his own life a few years ago. She said the decorations, and the fundraising for Dorset Mind, was in his memory.

The decorated house is found in 8 Linmead Drive, BH11 9JE. It will be open for trick or treaters on the evening of Monday, October 31.
