A MAN has been handed a six-month prison sentence for headbutting a police officer in the face.
Bobby Jay Lawrence, aged 21, was alleged to have assaulted PC Cornick at Bournemouth Custody and Enquiries in Madeira Road, Bournemouth, on October 1.
Lawrence pleaded guilty to a single charge of assaulting an emergency worker by beating them when he appeared via video link from Winchester Prison for a Poole Magistrates’ Court hearing on October 24.
The defendant was committed to prison for six months by a district judge.
Court papers stated the offence was deemed so serious because of the nature of the crime being a headbutt towards a police officer.
