A Tesco garage gave its customers a proper fright when it set its diesel price at more than £9 a litre.
Motorists were horrified by the extortionate price of 918.9p set on the shop's display.
It dwarfed even the record high for diesel which has risen to 181p per litre on average this year.
The reason for the eye-watering figure is thought to be an error made by one of the Tesco staff at the store in Poole.
