SWANAGE Pier will close for a month in November to allow for the completion of regeneration works.

The Swanage Pier Regeneration Project which is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, is an ongoing scheme to repair the pier and replace a number of wooden piles, decking and beams.

The pier will be closed throughout the whole of November.

The works started in February and the Victorian pier in Swanage Bay was closed for several weeks in February and March.

The final stage of the works will take place throughout November and the Swanage Pier Trust has confirmed it will close yet again in November to allow the works to safely take place.

The 1859 Cafe & Bistro, Exhibition, Gift Shop, and parking will remain open, but visitors will be unable to access the Pier structure during November.

No diving will be able to take place during the works.

A spokesman for Swanage Pier said: "The Pier will close for the month of November 2022 to enable the Trust to complete the schedule of works which were started earlier in the year.

"The 1859 Cafe & Bistro, Exhibition, Gift Shop and parking will remain open for visitors but there will be no public access to the Pier structure whilst the work is underway.

"For safety reasons, during the works, there will be no access for diving under the Pier."
