FIREFIGHTERS have been called to an early hours house fire near Swanage.

Fire crews were called to a property in Harmans Cross shortly before 1am on Monday morning for a fire that had started in an aga oven.

The occupants were alerted to the fire by their smoke alarms going off and found the property had become filled with smoke.

Two crews from Swanage fire station attended and extinguished the fire using one hose reel jet, one CO2 extinguisher and two breathing apparatus.

They also led the occupants of the property to safety.

In a Facebook post, Swanage fire station issued a message about smoke alarms. They wrote: “This once again shows the importance of having fitted and working smoke alarms and stopped the situation being a lot worse than it was.”
