This wonderful nostalgic photograph shows the Japanese gardens being created at Compton Acres back in the 1920s.
Thomas Simpson purchased the site in Poole and set about creating a series of themed gardens to reflect his overseas travels, with the help of Mr Middleton, the Head Gardener.
