POOLE Police have issued an update after a cat died from being shot with a catapult in Canford Heath.

On Wednesday October 19, a cat was shot with a catapult in Canford Heath and died as a result of its injuries.

Poole Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) have started a criminal investigation into hte incident.

A spokesperson for the team said they were interviewing a person in connection with the case.

A spokesperson from Poole Police said: "We fully appreciate that this matter has caused distress and upset to both the owners and the local community in Canford Heath.

"Dorset Police want to reassure the local community that matters of this nature are taken extremely seriously.

"We cannot comment further on this investigation at this time because it is a live criminal investigation.

"We request to preserve the interests of justice, that the local community provide us time to investigate this matter effectively and do not take matters into their own hands. Doing so may impede the investigation.
