BH2’S TGI Fridays has reopened after sprinklers used to put out a fire in Nando’s caused water damage to the restaurant down below.

The final remaining site which remains closed, Nando’s, is still unable to confirm when it will re-open after the fire caused damage to the restaurant.

We contacted Nando’s for a re-opening date and the Daily Echo approached the restaurant in BH2 this afternoon, but staff were unable to provide answers.

A spokesperson for BH2 said: We’re pleased to announce that TGI Fridays is now open. The only brand that will remain closed until further notice is Nando’s.

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the closure. If you had tickets or reservations, please contact the brands directly for further details.”

The leisure centre, with restaurants, bars, the Odeon cinema and indoor mini golf, was forced to close during the weekend after a fire started in the restaurant switchboard.

BH2 told the Daily Echo there had been a technical issue with the electricity at Nando's, which had set off the fire alarm.

As a result of the fire in the switchboard, the electricity has had to be turned off, forcing all venues in BH2 to close for the day.

The alarm prompted the water sprinklers which caused damage to both Nando’s and TGI Fridays down below, it is believed.

The venues open include: The Real Greek, Five Guys, Slim Chickens, Brewdog, The Odeon Cinema, Yogoo, Miller & Carter Steakhouse, Pizza Express, Mulligans, TGI Fridays, Ask Italian and Prezzo.

A spokeswoman for BH2 Leisure said yesterday: “An electrical panel malfunction in one of the restaurants on Sunday morning resulted in the centre having to close for some of the day.

“I’d like to apologise to customers for the inconvenience this caused.

“Further updates will be published on the centre’s website and social media pages.”
