A MAN has avoided an immediate prison sentence for stealing an Audi worth more than £20,000.
Jaroslaw Serek appeared before magistrates in Poole in relation to the theft of an Audi Q5 estate.
Serek, aged 45, pleaded guilty to the single charge at an earlier hearing and was sentenced on Friday, October 14.
The court heard he stole the vehicle, which was valued at £21,492.04 and belonged to Volkswagen Financial Service (UK) Ltd, between August 24, 2018, and May 21, 2021.
The defendant, whose address was given as Richmond Wood Road, Bournemouth, was committed to prison for six months, suspended for 12 months, after a judge ruling the offence crossed the custody threshold.
Serek was required to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He was also ordered to pay £21,492.04 compensation to Volkswagen Financial Service (UK) Ltd and a £128 surcharge.
