RESIDENTS have flagged a spelling error in a new road sign in Bournemouth.
The road sign on Newmorton Road was mistakenly spelt as ‘New Morton’ when it was replaced earlier this month.
Brian, who lives down the road, was one of the first to spot the error. He said: “They’ve put a space between new and morton. It’s supposed to be one word.
“I checked up the road maps, and all the road maps say it should be Newmorton.”
Brian added that the road had been ‘Newmorton’ for the last seven years he had lived there. He said: “As far as I know, it’s always been Newmorton Road.”
BCP Council confirmed that the new sign was incorrect and will be replaced.
Their spokesperson said: “A road name plate in the Muscliff area has recently been updated and it contains a misspelt version. We will have it re-installed with the correct spelling soon.”
