Plans have been submitted to demolish a car sales building in Poole and build 21 flats on the site.

The proposals have been lodged with BCP Council's planning department for the Bournemouth and Poole Car Sales site in Ringwood Road.

It is asking for permission to demolish the buildings on site and build a lock of 21 flats.

The application comes after a previous scheme was withdrawn in June 22, which included 28 flats.

Concerns were raised over the proposed footprint, proximity to the highway, appearance and access.

In the current application, proposals are for nine one-bedroom flats, 11 two-bedroom flats and one three-bedroom flat.

The housing would be spread over three floors with a lower ground floor giving access to rear parking, bin storage and cycle storage.

A design and access statement said: "The site currently has a somewhat functional appearance as a result of its previous and current use, and does not contribute positively to the street scene.

"The Local Plan supports the redevelopment of sites from employment to residential in this location and the proposed redevelopment has been designed to bring a significant lift to the site’s appearance and enhance this part of Ringwood Road."
