A BUSINESS striving to “source, restore and present” items from across the years- Un-Covered is Trader of the Week.
Found in the heart of Southbourne, Un-Covered is an independent store selling high quality and inexpensive antiques, art, and furniture.
It was opened at the beginning of the month by Southbourne resident James Dugan, a man with a passion for buying and selling.

James said: “It’s passion that I’ve always had since a young boy. It’s something that runs in the family.
“Opening a shop is something that I wanted to do. It’s not really work when you love what you do.”
Visitors to Un-Covered can discover a stunning range of pre-loved goods from across the decades, including furniture, general collectables, decorative items, pottery, and lighting.
A huge aspect of Un-Covered is its original art pieces, handpicked by James and displayed on the shop walls.
James said: “A big passion of mine is art, and original art. I thought there was a gap in the market for that too.

“I’m trying to have variety. As much as I love my art, you have to have a bit of everything.”
Whilst the Un-Covered premises may be small, it appears far from cluttered, which James said was an aim of his.
He added that he wanted to “present things” as if they were in a household.
Customers can trust that what they are buying is of the highest quality, with James using his years of experience in collecting to pick the best items for his shop.
He said: “I pick things based off my experience and what I like. My eyes look for quality.
“I go for things with a bit of style. It’s not just about practicality, it’s things that have got a bit of design edge about them.
“If you want to go buy something these days, something of good quality is so expensive. You can buy the same quality here, so its value for money as well.”
