A KEY scrutiny meeting on the financial situation at BCP Council has been pushed back by two weeks.

Members of the council’s corporate and community overview and scrutiny committee were due to meet on Monday, October 17.

It was expected that councillors would receive papers detailing the ongoing work to balance the budget.

However, the meeting was cancelled on Monday, October 10, with it now taking place on Tuesday, October 25 – the day before the report will go to cabinet.

The reports should be available to the public in the week before the meeting.

A BCP Council spokesperson said: “In order to prioritise the scrutiny of the council’s budget, the chair of corporate and community overview and scrutiny committee, following consultation with the chief executive and section 151 officer, agreed to alter the dates of some of the meetings.

“The revised dates will allow the receipt of reports in line with the cabinet publication timescales.”

The change means the date of the December scrutiny committee meeting has moved from December 5 to December 12, while a meeting on January 30 next year will now take place on February 6.
