The Hunter’s Moon gets its name as it marked the time to go hunting in preparation for the winter.

It can also be known as the Sanguine or Blood Moon.

According to the Almanac website, the earliest use of the term Hunter’s Moon is believed to date back to 1710.

The next full moon to occur will be the Beaver Moon which is due to peak on November 8.
