Drivers were caught in long delays on the A338 on Friday, with delays of more than a hour causing tailbacks.
A broken down car on the A31 westbound also caused further problems for frustrated motorists on the key routes during Friday afternoon.
In total, three incidents pn the northbound carriageway led to miles of queues on the road, and problems across the conurbation as the Avon Causeway and roads throughout Christchurch were also congested.

Initially, Dorset Police said a collision had taken place on the northbound carriageway around 10.40am.

The crash near to the Ashley Heath Roundabout involved a car and a lorry. It was reported that the road was partially blocked.
The road was cleared and the officers left the scene shortly after 12.20pm.
More than two hours later, police received a report at 3.04pm of a two vehicle collision on the A338 between the Blackwater junction and the Ashley Heath Roundabout.
Officers attended, there were no reports of any injuries and recovery was arranged. Police left the scene around 5.40pm.

The road was briefly closed during rush hour.
Officers also received a report at 3.48pm of a broken down vehicle near to the Ashley Heath Roundabout.
There were no reports of any injuries and it was reported that the owner was arranging their own recovery.
By 5.30pm the road was clearing of tailbacks and the issues on the A31 were also cleared.
