AS I see it the people who put in five birds of prey decoys in their garden, to scare off birds so their cats wouldn’t catch them and bring dead birds in the house, have the wrong target.

It is cats that are the problem and need dealing with. Not the poor birds.

If we all did what this family has done, three cats along with five birds of prey decoys, we’d have no birds left in our towns.

The right solution for anyone who owns cats is to accept they take birds and if they bring them in the house this has to be dealt with. This is the cost of owning cats.

Strong words to a cat it has done wrong can help. Classic ‘Pavlov’ training. Berate wrong behaviour, reward right behaviour. Takes time and effort and does work.

Not using bird killing birds of prey decoys to deal with bird killing cats. Taking one problem, because people chose to have cats, and escalating and causing problems for others.
