AN ELDERLY woman has been hospitalised after a car crash left her with serious injuries in North Dorset.
Emergency services were called to a report of a car hitting a pedestrian, a woman aged in her 90s, yesterday morning.
The victim was hit by a white Nissan Leaf on the A357 Ring Street in Stalbridge.
Road closures were put in place as the injured woman was treated. She was taken to Dorset County Hospital for treatment to injuries that were believed to be serious. Her family has been informed.
An examination of the scene was carried out and was road was reopened at 2.45pm.
Officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened on Thursday, October 6 at around 10.20am.
Police Sergeant Mike Gatfield, of the traffic unit, said: “We have commenced an investigation to establish the full circumstances of this collision and I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened.
“I would also ask anyone who was driving in the area around the relevant time who has dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please check their footage for anything that might assist our enquiries.
“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place.”
