POLICE are dealing with "several reports" of youths using catapults to target birds and cause criminal damage.
Poole Neighbourhood Policing Team has been "robustly" dealing with youths using catapults to kill birds and cause criminal damage.
Multiple reports of suspects shooting at birds with catapults in public have been reported to Poole Police.
A spokesperson from Poole Police said: "Poole Neighbourhood Policing Team have been robustly dealing with youths using catapults to kill birds and cause criminal damage.

"We have had several reports of suspects using catapults in a public place shooting towards birds.
"Please be aware these are not toys and are seen as an offensive weapon. They should not be used in a public place.
"If used in public this can lead to a criminal investigation and will be seized."

The RSPCA has described the attacks as "saddening."
A spokesperson from the RSPCA said: “We share our space with wildlife and need to show respect and kindness. Animals feel pain, just as we do. It’s saddening to think anyone could take pleasure from firing a catapult at a living creature.
“Such unnecessary and callous attacks can cause a lot of pain and distress, and are often fatal. Anyone with information about those responsible for animal cruelty should contact the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999.”
