A WETHERSPOONS pub in Bournemouth is up for leasehold after it was closed down earlier this year.

The Christopher Creeke in Holdenhurst Road, Lansdowne, is up for rent for £63,559 a year on Savills.

The 7,300 sq ft site includes ground floor and first floor trading areas and the tenure is held on a lease expiring in June 2039, with a tenant break option in June 2024.

The pub, which was popular amongst students thanks to its close proximity to student halls, was closed in March.

A spokesperson at the time said: “On occasion Wetherspoon does close some of its pubs and this is the case here”, adding no redundancies were made and staff remained at other Wetherspoon pubs in the area.

In the 12 months leading up to July 25, 2021, the pub chain recorded a pre-tax loss of £154.7million, compared to £34.1million the year before.

Sales were down from £1.26billion to £772.6m.

In 2020, a man died in hospital after falling down a flight of stairs in The Christopher Creeke.

The man, aged in his 40s and from Bradford, was taken to Poole Hospital for treatment and later died after going into cardiac arrest.
